Amb. Kauppi

Ambassador Kirsti Kauppi

Her Excellency Kirsti Kauppi became Ambassador of Finland to the United States in September 2015. Before that (2012-15) she was Political Director (Director General for Political Affairs) at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki. In 2009-12, Ambassador Kauppi served as Director General for Africa and the Middle East. Ambassador Kauppi has served in the Finnish Embassies in Berlin (2003-2005) as Deputy Chief of Mission (Minister), in Washington (1997-2000) and Bangkok (1989-92). Ambassador Kauppi's solid knowledge on European Union affairs builds on her four-year service (1993-97), in the Finnish Permanent Mission to the EU in Brussels.

Lady Catherine Ashton

Lady Catherine Ashton

Lady Catherine Ashton is a British politician who served as leader of the House of Lords (2007–08), European Union (EU) trade commissioner (2008–09) and high representative for foreign affairs and security policy for the EU (2009–14). Ashton studied economics at Bedford College (now part of Royal Holloway, University of London) and earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1977. Ashton has proved to be quietly effective at representing the sometimes-competing goals of the EU's 28 members. Regarding Iran's nuclear program; her personal participation in those discussions was seen as so critical that she was asked to continue coordinating them after the expiration of her term in 2014.

Dr. James Caporaso

Dr. James Caporaso

James A. Caporaso earned his Ph.D. at University of Pennsylvania and is currently a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Washington. He is a specialist in international political economy and international relations theory. He is a past president of the International Studies Association (1997-98) and past Chair of the European Union Studies Association (1995-97). He is coauthor with David Levine of "Theories of Political Economy." His current research is on political institutions and the financial crisis in comparative perspective.

Audrey Zurcher

Audrey graduated from the University of Denver in the Spring of 2017 with a BA in International Studies and French, as well as a minor in Art. In the Fall of 2016, she studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, where she experienced US-EU cultural, political, and economic exchange from the European perspective. On the DU campus, Audrey worked closely with the CEUCE team to promote a successful crossroad between the Mountain West region of the United States and the European Union.
