Humanitarian Assistance Student Jessie Cochran

Jessie Cochran is a MA candidate in International Development with a certificate in Humanitarian Assistance at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Jessie’s main interest lies in equipping humanitarian actors with the supplies needed for emergency responses and the implementation of response efforts. Jessie plans to embark on a career in humanitarian logistics and operations following graduation from Korbel.

Prior to enrolling at Korbel, Jessie worked in the non-profit fundraising and event planning field in Washington, D.C. Her most recent position was as the Director of Development Events at the National Building Museum, managing event logistics and the fundraising campaigns for its annual gala as well as planning exhibition openings, private dinners, member and sponsor receptions, and symposia. Jessie plans to use her skills in project management, coordination, and logistics planning for her new career path.

Jessie grew up in Leesburg, Georgia and graduated from Furman University in 2005 with a degree in History. Last summer, she interned in the Emergency Management Coordination Unit at the American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Jessie is currently participating in the Korbel in Geneva program and is completing a six-month internship with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
