Megan O’Brien

Megan is pursuing a master's degreeMegan in International Development with a certificate in Humanitarian Assistance at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. She is also a caseworker with Restoring Family Links, the American Red Cross' International Service program which reconnects loved ones that have been separated by armed conflict, disaster, and other humanitarian crises. She intends to focus her studies and career on refugee and internally displaced populations, humanitarian disaster response, and program development, especially within the context of refugee camps.

Coming to the field of international relations from an atypical background, Megan is transitioning from a career in design and consultation. Her professional experience will transfer well into this new endeavor, helping to approach and understand situations with a creative perspective. Over the last several years she has volunteered and interned with a variety of Denver community organizations, including the African Community Center, Planned Parenthood, the Clyfford Still Museum, and the Art Students League.

Megan is also a printmaker and has recently worked on a project with the refugee community. She hopes to include art and artistic expression in different forms throughout her academic and professional careers.
