Humanitarian Assistance Student Shanae Kemen

Shanae Kemen is a MA candidate in International Studies with a certificate in Humanitarian Assistance at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies.  Shanae has particular interests in refugee studies and the Middle East.

Prior to coming to the Josef Korbel School, Shanae spent time abroad in Morocco studying the Arabic language. She also spent time conducting qualitative research in Hangzhou, China. Before spending time abroad, Shanae spent several years volunteering and leading collaborative cross-cultural events in Dubuque, Iowa. Shanae first became interested in humanitarian assistance during her participation in an undergraduate simulation focused on refugees in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Shanae completed her undergraduate studies at Loras College with a B.A. in International Studies and History and a minor in Spanish.
