Creativity & Entrepreneurship

Frequently Asked Questions

I want to start my own business or non-profit. How will this LLC help me to do that?
The Creativity and Entrepreneurship LLC will help you hone your creative and innovative thinking skills, through individual and group projects. You will have access to a number of local community members with experience in the business or non-profit communities. The DU community boasts an unmatched network of alums for current students to learn from in order to start businesses or non-profit organizations.
Will the Creativity and Entrepreneurship LLC teach me to be "creative?"
We believe that each person comes to DU with a creative talent. The Creativity and Entrepreneurship LLC provides a venue for students to unleash their creative talents and work with other students to form a collective pool of creativity to draw from whether it be through designing a solution to a social problem, or through creating an app to sell on the Google Play store.
Is everyone in the Creativity and Entrepreneurship LLC a business major?
No, the Creativity and Entrepreneurship LLC draws students from a very wide array of majors in the DU community. In 2014-15, the 25 CELLC students came from 14 different majors.
The academics and programs focus on a broad array of themes clustered around creativity and entrepreneurship, including the design thinking process, app development/programming, improv, amongst many others. The skills students learn translate easily to any major or interest of the student.
Do I pay extra to be in an LLC?
No!  It is a great value added program to your DU education and retreats and programming are provided at no cost to the student.
Can I apply to more than 1 LLC?
Yes. We encourage this. Since these programs fill up fast, you will want to apply early. If you are accepted to more than 1 LLC you will be able to choose the one that best fits your interests.
Should I apply before I find out if I am accepted to DU?
Yes! We recommend this as they fill fast.  Notification of acceptance, however, will be given after you have been accepted to DU. You will also need to apply for Housing separately and then you will be placed on the correct LLC floor.
Will I get to know people outside my LLC floor?
Absolutely! This program helps you develop a strong base of friendships and networks that will go far beyond the floor you live on.
Can I be in the Honors Program and an LLC?
Yes, many students are in both. To be in an LLC however, you must live on the LLC floor your first year.
What is the time commitment and does an LLC go beyond the first year?
Every LLC requires your enrollment in a 2 credit class each quarter. This meets for two hours each week which you are required to attend.
In addition you are required to participate in CELLC events and activities outside of the class regularly throughout the quarter. Typically there are 5-6 such events each quarter during the evenings either after class or on another day. You'll of course enjoy the spontaneous friendships and activities that emerge on the floor adding to the many opportunities you have for social networking.
Do I still apply for Housing?
Yes! You should apply for Housing as soon as you are accepted to DU.  The LLC office will then notify Housing of your acceptance into an LLC so that you are placed on the correct floor.
