Parking for Special Events

University events may interrupt parking and traffic patterns. During any special event or campus activity, all parking lots, parking meters, and traffic may be controlled by Parking Services (or an independent contractor hired by the University to manage vehicular traffic and parking).

Event Parking

Departments have three options when arranging parking needs for event guests:

  1. Guests will be responsible for their own parking arrangements (park and pay in designated visitor lots or street parking)
  2. The department may pay for guest parking by pre-purchasing parking permits at a reduced (contact Parking Services for department special event rates) rate for General and Visitor parking lots
  3. The guests will be required to pay an attendant (hired by Parking Services) an event parking fee at the entrance to the parking facility.

Each special event has its own unique characteristics; therefore it is imperative that departments holding large events on campus contact Parking Services as soon as possible in order to properly manage the event. Please remember, there is no free parking on campus and all vehicles without valid parking permits are subject to parking citations and the assessment of fines.

All parking lots and visitor areas are subject to special event parking use and restrictions. Resident students living in the immediate area of a special event shall present a valid University parking permit to be admitted into the parking lot. All non-permit holders will be assessed a parking fee to use University parking facilities.

All instructions for parking and traffic control devices and/or direction from parking officials shall be followed or will result in the issuance of citation(s) and/or the towing of the motor vehicle at the owner’s expense.
