COURSE DESCRIPTION

The University of Denver Sturm College of Law and the Center for Professional Development are proud to present the Marijuana SUMMIT, featuring speakers representing Denver Law, Daniels College of Business, and the state of the science in Psychology and Biology. Attendees can choose two of four workshops on hot topics in the law, business, psychology, and biology fields. Discussions and workshops will focus on marijuana, the research behind it, and the effects of legalization. The first session will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and the second session will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.  2.5 CE and up to 2 CLE will be available for the workshop sessions. 

KEYNOTE SPEAKER BIO

  • Sam Kamin, J.D.
    The Vicente Sederberg Professor of Marijuana Law and Policy at the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver. He has become one of the nation's leading experts on the regulation of marijuana and is currently serving on the ACLU of California's blue ribbon panel to study marijuana legalization.

    artner and founding member of Vicente Sederberg LLC. Vicente also serves as executive director of Sensible Colorado and is the chair of the National Cannabis Industry Association.
  • Shawn Hauser, Esq. 
    Senior associate at Vicente Sederberg LLC and serves on the board of the National Hemp Association.
  • Sam Kamin, J.D.
    The Vicente Sederberg Professor of Marijuana Law and Policy at the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver.     Adjunct professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Denver and former NIH National Institute on Drug Abuse.

    Walter Koch Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.
  • Ron Throupe, Ph.D.
    Assistant professor at the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management, University of Denver. 
  • Andrew Schnackenberg, Ph.D.
    Assistant professor of strategic management in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
  • Paul Seaborn, Ph.D.
    Assistant professor at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.
  • Jack Strauss, Ph.D. 
    The Miller Chair of Applied Economics at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.
  • Heather Kennedy, M.B.A.
    Associate teaching professor at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
