Testing

COVID-19 testing is provided free of charge to all DU Community members (anyone with a DU ID number). No appointment is required for a DU Community member.

We are proud to offer our testing services to the community; we call this friends and family testing. Appointments are required for friends and family. We charge only the cost to conduct the test, with no overhead or markup. While we do not bill insurance, we can provide you with the information you need to seek reimbursement.

Prior Positive Retesting

As a rule, isolations last 10 days from the date of your positive test. However, there is flexibility for patients who have minor and improving symptoms and are fully vaccinated. If you have been fever-free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication) and your other symptoms are improving, you may be eligible for an early release from isolation through a retest five days after symptom onset (or test date if asymptomatic). If the result of that test shows a viral load below the shedding threshold (determined by the spit lab), you will be released the following day. If your retest still shows a viral load above the threshold, you may retest two days later. If the second test still shows levels above threshold, you will be eligible for release after 10 full days.

All re-tests for early release must be taken at DU and must be spit tests (no nasal tests please). Patients who are not fully vaccinated (all doses plus booster) may not test for early release. Tests taken prior to these dates will not qualify you for an earlier release.
