CPD-0241 – Coaching 4: Practicum (CPD-0241_COACH4)

Coaching 4: Practicum

Coaching skills take time to develop. Our natural tendency when supporting the professional growth of an employee is to give advice and suggest strategies for a solution to a particular challenge. Coaching differs from advising. It involves specific techniques to highlight the employee’s knowledge and perspectives in ways that help them gain clarity, find relevance, and make powerful and productive choices that connect to their intrinsic motivation.

This session is the final course in the Non-Credit Coaching Skills Certificate Program. In this practicum you will continue developing the following coaching skills:
  • Asking powerful coaching questions
  • Creating alignment between goals, values and actions
  • Fostering accountability
  • Building rapport for transformation
  • Managing resistance
Role plays, interactive videos, triad sessions and a large group coaching activity will give you additional hands-on experience to practice and improve your coaching skills.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Coach around a variety of topics with greater ease and efficiency
  • Discern effective coaching techniques from less effective ones.
  • Ask deeper level questions that challenge assumptions and shift perspectives.
  • Engage employees in their unique problem-solving processes.
