Strategic Thinking

Taught by expert corporate trainer and adjunct faculty member, Eric Savickas, this course will increase your capacity to think strategically by exploring a model that analyzes the environment, explores potential options, implements a comprehensive plan, and evaluates the results. You will learn the importance of a quality mission statement as the foundational strategic element – and how it drives the entire strategic planning process. You will leave the course armed to lead your organization’s next planning session and help create new success.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Evaluate an organizational mission statement and objectives as the foundation for strategic planning
  • Discuss a methodical process of developing a comprehensive and executable strategic plan for a public, private, or non-profit organization
  • Analyze the internal and external factors using an appropriate environmental scanning technique to assist in determining the strategic decisions of an organization
  • Explore how leaders can create an environment in which innovation thrives
  • Leverage tools to help break habits that stifle innovation and explore ways to improve the quality of ideas
  • Explore performance measures to effectively evaluate the results of an innovative strategic plan

Eric Savickas, MSA,
