Coaching 2: Strategies to Promote Emotional & Social Agility

Employees’ emotional and social agility is fundamental for a positive and professional work environment. A leader’s ability to manage others’ emotions, handle difficult conversations, and foster resilience are just a few of the critical skills needed to ensure high performance in the workforce.

In this course, you’ll explore a framework for emotional and social intelligence, and learn the supporting research behind these concepts. A conflict management assessment tool will be used to introduce various strategies for dealing with conflict. Case studies will then be incorporated to explore methods for building trust, facilitating challenging interactions, and pausing versus reacting in emotionally charged situations. The course will conclude with an activity designed to help you promote broader social awareness in your organization.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Analyze the emotional & social intelligence framework and the supporting research behind it.
  • Know when different conflict management styles are most effective.
  • Facilitate challenging conversations.
  • Foster a broader sense of social awareness in the workplace.

Instructor:
Maureen Breeze
Maureen Breeze has over 25 years of experience working in coaching, talent development, and senior level management. She is a certified executive coach through the International Coaching Federation, the author of two books on leadership and creative thinking, and is licensed to train using the ISEI’s Social and Emotional Intelligence Profile, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessment and the Leadership Multi-Rater Assessment of Personality tool. She coaches executives from a wide range of industries including technology, manufacturing, real estate development, start-ups, non-profits and more. Maureen has facilitated trainings on coaching, innovation, leadership, and emotional/social intelligence in Germany, Mexico, Spain, and Switzerland, and has conducted workshops for international organizations including the Gulf Business Training Network and the Shanghai Entrepreneur Center. She is a Principal at Cultivage Consulting and Training where she works with both individual clients and organizations, and is the Co-founder of Retreat Reinvent Recharge, a coaching program for professional women in transition. Maureen graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Claremont McKenna College in California with a major in International Management and minor in Mathematics.
