Clubs

Find and play the sports you love with your fellow Pioneers through the Alpine Club and our 28 club sports.

List of DU club sports

Alpine Club
Alpine Club is your connection to the great outdoors providing discounted, well-organized and fun events for all participants. Alpine Club events are all student-run, and the club accepts memberships throughout the year.
Badminton
Club Badminton practices weekly on campus and invites all interested students to stop by and learn more about our team. Members compete in local competitions, and the club open to all skill levels.
Men's baseball
Club Men’s Baseball is a competitive team, participating in both fall and spring leagues. We are a Division II team that competes both locally and regionally in the National Club Baseball Association.
Women's basketball
Club Women’s Basketball is a competitive team, playing both on and off the DU campus. We practice two nights per week and welcome new members, both with and without competitive experience. We compete in NIRSA-sanctioned competitions both regionally and nationally.
Climbing
Club Climbing invites students of all levels to join. The club includes both competition and recreational teams, with the competition team competing locally and nationally. The recreational team practices weekly at the Coors Fitness Center climbing wall and can sign up for weekend climbing trips around Colorado.
Cross country
Club Cross Country provides a community where students, staff and faculty can run and compete together in a fun and challenging environment. Our club has two divisions: competitive and recreational. All levels are welcome, and competition is not mandatory. We typically compete in seven to nine races each year.
Curling
Club Curling opens the door to this unique sport for students on the University of Denver campus. We do not require any previous curling experience, and we group members according to their experience. Each year, we compete at local and regional curling competitions.
Cycling
Club Cycling has both recreational and competitive (sport) riders, and we invite any students with an interest in cycling to come to a practice. In the fall, our team sponsors student riders in mountain bike competitions. Our main season is spring when we participate in a 10-week road season.
Dance
Club Dance performs at various DU events, including varsity athletic events, campus fundraisers, talent shows and a variety of other venues. We host auditions in the fall and spring quarters for the upcoming school year.
Field hockey
Club Field Hockey is a fall club sport. We compete against local collegiate teams and practice once a week. Club membership is open to male and female students.
Figure skating
Club Figure Skating is open to all DU students, regardless of their skating skills. Our members range from beginners to senior-level competitors. We participate in Pacific Western Region Competitions and host the annual Pioneer Open competition, as well as regularly qualify for Nationals.
Gymnastics
Club Gymnastics hosts two weekly practices in the DU gymnastics facility and compete in intercollegiate competitions. Club membership is open to all students.
Men's ice hockey
Club Men’s Ice Hockey competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association and competes locally, regionally and, in some years, nationally.
Women's ice hockey
Club Women's Ice Hockey is open to all current female students of the University of Denver. Our team participates in the Women's Association of Colorado Hockey League and competes against women's teams from around the Front Range.
Inline hockey
Club Inline Hockey participates in the Rocky Mountain Roller Hockey league and consists of “A” and “B” teams. We practice both on- and off-campus, and invite any interested students to come out to a practice.
Kayaking
Club Kayaking invites all students, regardless of their previous experience, to join our club and learn about the sport of kayaking. Our club events include weekly pool practices at El Pomar Natatorium and river trips throughout the year.
Men's lacrosse
Club Men’s Lacrosse is a competitive lacrosse team open to all male University of Denver students. We compete in intercollegiate games and Denver lacrosse leagues.
Women's lacrosse
Club Women’s Lacrosse encourages participants to have previous lacrosse experience but welcomes members of all levels. Our team competes against regional teams and participates in tournaments such as the Santa Barbara Shootout each year.
Rowing
Club Rowing competes each quarter with their main competition season during the spring. The club regularly competes at the ACRA national championships each year. New and experienced rowers are welcome.
Men's rugby
Pioneers Rugby has just celebrated its 40th anniversary and continues to be a proud tradition on the University of Denver campus. We invite all interested students to stop by and learn more about our team.
Skiing
Club Skiing is a competitive racing team, open to all University of Denver students with skiing experience. We compete in giant slalom and slalom throughout Colorado in the winter quarter.
Men's soccer
Club Men’s Soccer offers competition opportunities for male DU students who don't want to or can't play at the Division I level. We compete in intercollegiate competitions during the fall quarter and require a commitment of two practices per week, plus competitions.
Women's soccer
Club Women’s Soccer offers competition opportunities for female DU students who don't want to or can't play at the Division I level. We compete in intercollegiate competitions during the fall quarter and require a commitment of two practices per week, plus competitions.
Taekwondo
Club Taekwondo is the stress reliever, workout and self-defense course you’ve been looking for! We are a recreational martial arts club that combines joint manipulation techniques with a series of steps and patterns, kicking, punching and soft sparring. Our team consists of enthusiastic and fun-loving students, ranging in skill level from beginner to black belt.
Tennis
Club Tennis offers high level competition without the time commitment of varsity athletics. We hold tryouts in the fall and compete each quarter.
Ultimate frisbee
Club Ultimate Frisbee practices throughout the year and is open to all DU students, regardless of their skill level. Our team competes locally and regionally, and is dedicated to advancing the sport of Ultimate Frisbee.
Women's volleyball
Club Women's Volleyball is a competitive club sport, open to all DU students with high school volleyball experience and are interested in joining a student-run organization. Competitions are held throughout the year, with Nationals during the spring quarter.
Men's water polo
Club Men’s Water Polo is open to all male DU students. We compete locally and regionally within the Collegiate Water Polo Association, and fall quarter is our main competition season.
Women's water polo
Club Women’s Water Polo is open to all female DU students. We compete locally and regionally within the Collegiate Water Polo Association, and spring quarter is our main competition season.
