professional biography

Clinical Assistant Professor Brian Gonzales brings practice and leadership experience to the Graduate School of Social Work. He teaches courses in generalist practice, clinical practice and power, privilege and oppression.

Gonzales has worked in a variety of clinical settings with adolescents, families and adults, specializing in work in the criminal justice system. His experiences include direct practice, clinical supervision, training, consultation, administration and program development. Gonzales is dedicated to the growth of the social work profession and inclusive community partnerships.

In addition to teaching at GSSW, Gonzales serves as the executive director for a private nonprofit that provides mental health and substance abuse treatment in community corrections, county jails and outpatient settings throughout the state of Colorado.
