Description:This course is an introduction to intellectual and cultural currents in German civilization the Enlightenment to the present, emphasizing the arts int he context of history and philosophy.  Readings include excerpts from such thinkers as Kant, Fichte, Marx and Nietzsche, as well as poetry and short fictional works by Heine, Junger, Remarque, Brecht, and others. The readings will be supplemented by films and other visuals. 

 *This class is taught in English, there are no prerequisites and it fulfills AI Society credit.
