Why orientation for families?

Transitioning into college is one of the most exciting times of your student's life. It can be both thrilling and challenging. We are here to help you become familiar with DU, answer your questions, and preview what you can expect for your student's first year at DU. 

Fall 2018 Orientation Frequently Asked Questions

Are there programs for parents to attend during Discoveries Orientation? How long do most families stay on campus?

  • Yes, on Monday and Tuesday we will have parent orientation sessions. The schedule will be available when you check in. Most families stay on campus until Tuesday afternoon and leave after family orientation is complete.

How do I register for parent and family orientation?

Is there a fee to attend Parent and Family Orientation? Where will Parent & Family Orientation check-in be located?

  • Yes, there is a $25 fee for this year's Parent and Family Orientation. Check-in will be located in Hamilton Gym.

Does my student have to register for Orientation? Is there a cost for my student to attend orientation?

  • Incoming students are automatically registered for Discoveries Orientation. There is no registration process for students. The student Orientation is free.

Where do students pick up their room keys?

  • Students will receive their room keys when they check-in for orientation.

Where do students get their ID? How does my student get their RTD transportation pass?

  • Students will receive their student ID and their RTD when they check-in for Orientation unless they did not submit their picture ahead of time. Students will then need to visit the Pioneer ID Card Office in the Driscoll South building.

How do I purchase a parking pass for my student?

  • All parking passes can be purchased through the Parking and Transportation Services website.

Where do I park for Orientation?

  • All Hourly lots are free, for lot locations, please see this map
