Why orientation for families?

Transitioning into college is one of the most exciting times of your student's life. It can be both thrilling and challenging. We are here to help you become familiar with DU, answer your questions, and preview what you can expect for your student's first year at DU. Fall 2019 Orientation: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there programs for parents to attend during Discoveries Orientation? How long do most families stay on campus?

A: Yes, on Monday and Tuesday we will have parent orientation sessions. The schedule will be available when you check in. Most families stay on campus until Tuesday afternoon and leave after family orientation is complete.

Q: What is the schedule for Parent & Family Orientation?

Q: How do I register for parent and family orientation?

A: The 2019 fall parent and family orientation registration link will be posted in late April 2019. 

Q: Is there a fee to attend Parent and Family Orientation?

A: Yes, there is a $25 fee for this year's Parent and Family Orientation.

Q: Where will Parent & Family Orientation check-in be located?

A: Student, parents, and families will check-in in the Hamilton Gym in the Ritchie Center. 

Q: Does my student have to register for Orientation? Is there a cost for my student to attend orientation?

A: Incoming students are automatically registered for Discoveries Orientation. There is no registration process or fee for students. 

Q: Where do students pick up their room keys?

A: Students will receive their room keys when they check-in for orientation.

Q: Where do students get their ID? How does my student get their RTD transportation pass?

A:  Students will receive their student ID and their RTD when they check-in for Orientation unless they did not submit their picture ahead of time. Students will then need to visit the Pioneer ID Card Office in the Driscoll South building.

Q: How do I purchase a parking pass for my student?

A: All parking passes can be purchased through the DU Parking and Transportation Services website.

Q: How do I find a campus map?

A: You can find DU campus and parking maps here.

Q: Where do I park for Orientation?

A: All hourly lots are free. For lot locations, please consult the DU parking map (green lots are hourly).
