Culture of Care & Support

At the University of Denver, we engage in a Culture of Care & Support for individuals and the campus community to maintain their safety, health, and well-being. Through our holistic collaboration we can work together to ensure that our students are connected to the appropriate resources to meet their goals and develop new skills in navigating challenging experiences.

We continue to evolve this culture by:

  • Educating the students on the services available to support them
  • Collaborating across departments
  • Developing an environment where everyone understands their responsibility in noticing the well-being of those around them
  • Helping the campus community learn the skills to know when and how to intervene
  • Creating access to resources, document and refer students to the appropriate university office

Our Mission:

Student Outreach & Support (SOS) helps students succeed by connecting them to resources, developing a plan of action to meet their goals, and navigating challenging situations. The SOS staff creates an inclusive and welcoming environment for students to develop skills in self-awareness, self-advocacy, resilience, and navigation to maximize their educational experience.

Our Functions:

  • Manage the SOS Referral system for Crisis Support & Behavioral Intervention
  • Use a Case Management Framework for Proactive and Reactive Support
  • Consult & Train on supporting students in navigating challenging situations
  • Create access to resources for students to maintain their safety, health, and well-being
