A Message from the Chair

Greetings DU Womxn and Allies,

In celebration of International Women’s Day, it is my pleasure to announce the restructure of the Women’s Coalition.

In order for the coalition to affect change and achieve our mission to empower women and make DU a top choice for women students, faculty, and staff we started building out a Strategic Plan in early 2020. When COVID hit we had to regroup and pause the Strategic Plan initiatives until we all had more clarity of how the pandemic would change our campus and how long it would last.

Just as we were getting settled into this new rhythm, we found out we’d be moving from the umbrella of the Colorado Women’s College to the Office of Diversity. Equity, and Inclusion. While ODEI is the right home for the Women’s Coalition this meant once again we needed to pause on our strategic plan and get the new lay of the land.

Ultimately, these pauses have been gifts.

Instead of trying to fix a coalition that isn’t set up for sustainability and action we have begun to look at how we can restructure and bring more womxn and allies together to help us determine our priorities and to take action towards reaching our Strategic Goals.

Your voice is needed.

You are invited to attend one of the two first info sessions on the new look and structure of the Women’s Coalition. While we will always remain the home and ally for our different women’s affinity groups, we are growing the opportunities for women to be involved directly with the coalition. It’s an exciting time and we want you to be a part of it.

Our first two sessions will be virtual on either Tuesday, March 23 or Tuesday, March 30 – both from 12-1pm. Please RSVP here. If you are not able to attend either of these sessions, please know more will be coming.

Please feel free to send me any questions, ideas, or thoughts as well.
