Education: BA in Political Sciences, Universidad Nacional de Colombia

Program at the Josef Korbel School: Global Finance, Trade and Economic Integration

What work experience do you have? I Have 4 years of experience in the public sector in public relations and international affairs.  Before coming to the United States I worked for the Government of the city of Medellin at the Agency of Cooperation and Investment for Medellin and the Metropolitan Area where I was part of the City-Region Projection team. As an international Affairs Advisor I was in charge of the creation and implementation of a South-South Cooperation strategy for the city, as well as the international outreach and the positioning of the city programs among different cities worldwide.

Why did you choose the Josef Korbel School? Two of the reasons why I chose Korbel are its focus on leadership and the multi-disciplinary approach of its programs. As an international student I was looking for a place to learn not only from the theory but from the interaction with different cultures. At Korbel I found the perfect place to further my knowledge while directly working in the application of international politics and economic theory.

What are your career goals? As an MA student I have developed an especial interest in Project Management and Trading. I am confident that with the knowledge acquired I will be able to work either at the private or public sector in the creation of transnational communities that enhance the local qualities providing better services to partners and allies worldwide.

So far, how has the Josef Korbel School prepared you for your career? Korbel School has given me the tools to pursue my careers goals. The theoretical framework is always presented on the basis of contemporary events preparing us as students for the real challenges of a professional career. Furthermore lectures and seminars are constantly taking place in our school; ambassadors, International Organization representatives and personalities that have great influence on the international level visit us and share their experience in this field.
