Suggested Russian Websites and Information Below are some links to other Russian-related websites, from the DU-specific (the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce--one location for RUSS 3997 Russian: Learn Through Service), the more general (picture galleries and online audio/video), to the more academic (online search services and an online Russian-English English-Russian dictionary). These sites are not necessarily endorsed by the Russian Language and Literature Program, but have fun exploring and remember that all of these sites are out of the University of Denver's web system (some also require a Cyrillic-capable browser). Information on Study Abroad or Russian language study in the US can be found on the Study Abroad Page. For information on visas, invitations, and travel in Russia, visit the visa site of the Russian Consulate in New York City, and try the site for the Russian National Tourist Office. Though visa regulations change periodically, things are not quite as difficult as they seem. It is in fact easier for most trips to dispense with an invitation altogether and get in touch with a travel agency specializing in Russian travel. These agencies are fully accredited with the Russian government and will provide a visa and a pre-paid OVIR stamp for Moscow (required since suspected terrorist attacks in Moscow in the past few years). The total for this service is between about $150 to $200 dollars. It is much easier than having friends or acquaintances in Russia stand in line for hours to get the necessary paperwork completed. A good agency is the Russian-American Consulting Travel Agency (45 West 34th Street, Suite 703, New York, NY, 10001; (877) 268-2677). |
