Artist Diploma

The Lamont School of Music offers the Artist Diploma program, a highly selective, intensive and focused program of professional studies designed to provide advanced training in the art of musical performance and interpretation.

The Artist Diploma program is offered in the following areas:
Conducting | Performance.

First round of materials due December 15.

Scholarships

For Artist Diploma candidates who have submitted all of their materials by December 15 and have completed a successful on-time audition, Lamont makes every effort to award scholarships to cover a student's tuition costs.

International Applicants

In order to qualify for an F-1 or J-1 visa, students must enroll in at least eight (8) credit hours per quarter, with the exception of their final quarter at DU. As an Artist Diploma candidate, you may be required to register for credit hours and coursework additional to the minimum requirements of the program in order to fulfill the eight-credit requirement.

 Artist Diploma in Conducting

With a minimum of academic requirements, the AD is ideal for highly accomplished conductors determined to pursue a professional career in conducting. A completed degree in music or its equivalent from a recognized school of music is required for admission.

Choral

Choral conducting students have the opportunity to study with Dr. Catherine Sailer, Director of Choral Studies at Lamont.

Orchestral conducting students have the opportunity to study with Dr. Lawrence Golan, director of the award-winning Lamont Symphony Orchestra.

Audition Requirements

Artist Diploma in Performance

With a minimum of academic requirements, the AD is ideal for highly accomplished instrumentalists and vocalists determined to pursue a solo career. Because studios are kept small, all AD students study individually with faculty and enjoy a wealth of performance time. A completed high school diploma is required for admission. Competitive applicants will have extensive performance experience.
