Study Abroad

Students of the Arabic program at DU are encouraged to study abroad. There are several excellent programs that have partnered with the University of Denver. You might consider studying in Israel, Jordan or even Morocco.

Through the Cherrington Global Scholars program, every eligible junior or senior has the chance to take advantage of this unique opportunity. To see currently offered programs and for general information, visit the Cherrington Global Scholars website.

In addition to Cherrington opportunities, you may be interested in Cornell's Summer Intensive Arabic Program. Learn more about this opportunity on Cornell's website.

SPOTLIGHT ON STUDY ABROAD

Andrew in AmmanName: Andrew
Location: Amman, Jordan
Program: CIEE, Language and Culture
Living Situation: Homestay
Duration: Full Year

"The study abroad experience doesn't necessarily have to resemble what you want out of your future life to be a successful one. Rather, it should be a once in a lifetime experience in which you learn about a new culture, new people, new government, new language and maybe most importantly—a new you. This is exactly how my study abroad experience has been.

While Amman, Jordan is not necessarily a place I see myself living in for an extended period of time in the future, my experience here has been invaluable to my understanding of the world and of myself. Of course it has been a challenge, but I always remind myself that the biggest challenges return the biggest rewards. For me, these rewards have come in the form of language skills, cultural understanding, new international friends and a general feeling of accomplishment."
