CHINA SCHOOL MENTAL HEALTH PRACTICUM PRESENTATION - April 2 There will be a presentation Tuesday April 2, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:00pm in KRH 408 to discuss the outcomes of the first ever School-based Mental Health Practicum initiative conducted in Beijing, China this past Fall quarter. Anyone interested in hearing about this experience and/or potentially participating in the experience next year is welcome. See the attached flyer.
14TH ANNUAL HUMAN RIGHTS SYMPOSIUM - April 10 Dr. Richard Kitchen, Professor and Kennedy Endowed Chair of Urban Education in the Morgridge College of Education, will speak on a panel as part of the 14th Annual Human Rights Symposium at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies on April 10 at 6 PM.
LIVING IN THE NEW NORMAL INSTITUTE - April 19-20 You are invited to attend the upcoming Living in the New Normal Institute (LINNI-I). The Military Child Education Coalition, a non-profit organization addressing the educational needs of children in military families and the Child, Family and School Psychology Program present the training. The LINN-I is a two-day institute outlining specific community resources, deployment information, and practical strategies for encouraging resilience in all children. POWER STORY OF LEARNING - April 25 An interactive presentation, filled with practical hear-it-today-and-use-it-tomorrow tips and techniques, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Kendall Haven. Provides a fast-paced, highly entertaining, and evocative narration of the relationship between story structure and human neural processing—that is, how human minds are hardwired to process and to understand what they see, read, and hear and how effective story structure controls that human learning process. MORGRIDGE FAMILY FOUNDATION SHARE FAIR- May 4 Dr. Jane Goodall will kick off the 5th MFF Share Fair at the University of Denver on May 4, 2013 with a keynote address reflecting on her more than 50-year scientific career—and will also emphasize how young people can ensure a hopeful future for life on Earth. The theme for this year’s event has a focus on the critical educational opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. RSVP.
