Miners' Housing Construction
During the settlement of the camp in the 1890s, managers had a limited interest in workers' housing. It was up to miners and their families to design and build their own houses. This gave miners the ability for free expression in the design of their homes. The isolation of the region and miners' limited funds restricted most designs for miners housing to be quickly and cheaply built. These houses were often made out of stone, logs, or adobe. |
