“Increase in House Rents at Mines- For a good many years the Company has been losing heavily in the costs of employee housing. By an agreement made in the year 1918, charges for rentals of Company-owned houses at the mines were limited to $2.00 per room. This year a proposition was submitted to the employees to increase this rate to $3.00 per room. After consideration and report by the committees on Co-operation, Conciliation and Wages, it was agreed to compromise on the amount of this increase, and a rate of $2.50 per room was accepted by the Company and employees and announced as going into effect January 1, 1928.”
