Professor Jenson Appointed SPR Treasurer and Board Member

June 9, 2015

Jeff Jenson, the Philip D. and Eleanor G. Winn Professor for Children and Youth at Risk, has accepted a three-year appointment as Treasurer and Board Member for the Society for Prevention Research (SPR). SPR is an international organization dedicated to advancing the scientific investigation of the etiology and prevention of social, physical and mental health problems in children, adolescents and young adults.

Jenson’s research focuses on the application of a public health approach to preventing child and adolescent health and behavior problems, and on the evaluation of preventive interventions aimed at promoting positive youth development. He also works closely with GSSW’s Bridge Project, an afterschool program located in four Denver public housing neighborhoods.

Members of SPR are leading experts in designing and conducting research aimed at finding effective solutions to preventing child and adolescent problem behaviors like substance use, delinquent conduct and school dropout. SPR holds an annual conference attended by more than 500 scholars and policymakers, and it publishes a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal called Prevention Science. Jenson is a frequent presenter at the annual SPR conference and has published findings from his research in the SPR journal.
