The
Ludlow Massacre History Trunk is an excellent resource for Colorado
history teachers.
The trunk contains:
• Real artifacts from the 1913-1914 Colorado Coal Field strike and
war
• A teacher’s guide containing background information about
Colorado coal mining and the strike that led to the Ludlow Massacre
• Lesson plans to be used in conjunction with the artifacts
• Videotapes about coal mining history and strikes
• Audio cassette tapes of coal mining songs
• Photographs, Maps and Newspaper articles
• And coal.
The Historical Archaeology
Trunk includes:
• Real artifacts from the 1913-1914 Colorado Coal Field strike and
war
• Teacher’s guide with background information on historical
archaeology
• Lesson plans in conjunction with the artifacts
• Oral history accounts of the events of the day and associated
activities
• Video highlighting current excavation
Grades: These
trunks are appropriate for 4-8th grade students.
Cost: The
fee if $5.00 for a two-week period
How to get the Trunks:
• The trunk must be picked up by the teacher.
• Or the teacher must pay shipping FedEx for both directions.
• The trunks may be picked up at the University of Denver Department
of Anthropology.
Scheduling:
please reserve your trunk in advance. We ask for at least a 2 day notice.
