LT Win Modem The LT Win Modem
has shipped out with several new PCs on the market. Since it does not have
an EPROM chip on the modem, it is a generic "software" modem that
requires specific drivers for best performance. An EPROM chip is a memory
chip allowing "flash" V.90 upgrade utilities to write to the modem
directly. The LT Win Modem, instead, only uses drivers which can
sometimes be difficult to install. Additionally, certain versions may
work best for certain phone lines but perform worse for others. It is
not uncommon to try several versions before finding one that works best
for your situation. WITH THE RIGHT DRIVERS, THE LT WIN MODEM CAN BE A
GOOD MODEM.
Because
the LT Win Modem is generic, it is also known by several other names:
- LT Win Modem
- Lucent Win Modem
- Compaq Presario Internal Modem
- Compaq Armada 1500 Series 560CL
