Connecting to Shared Network Folders (Shares, Zephyr)
Shared Network Folder access need to be explicitly requested by your immediate supervisor on your behalf. Connections outside of the DU network require a secure VPN connection. For further assistance, please call 303.871.4700.
Mac OS X
| 1. While in Finder, navigate to "Go" and "Connect to Server", or use the keyboard shortcut > "Command + K". | ![]() |

2. Specify the server by using the protocol: smb://shares.du.edu/dept/share* *share being the name of the specific network folder that you are connecting to. If you don't know the share, leave that field blank. For Zephyr, replace 'dept' with 'zephyr,' followed by the first 3 digits of your DU ID and an underscore and finally your DU ID cifs://shares.du.edu/zephyr/87x_/87xxxxxxx If you are connecting to a zephyr drive, use cifs instead of smb

| 3. Enter your CAIR credentials in order to authenticate | ![]() |

4. Choose the specific share directory if you left it blank in step 2. |

Windows
| 1. Right click "My Computer" and select "Map Network Drive". |

2. Select a Drive letter to use, and type the share path into the "Folder:" field. Use the syntax: \\shares.du.edu\dept\share* *share being the name of the specific shared folder that you are connecting to. Click "Connect using a different user name" to authenticate your account. |

3. Use your CAIR credentials to authenticate to the shared directory. Use the syntax: CAIR\firstname.lastname Click "OK". Click "Finish". |

| 4. The drive will be displayed under Network Drives in My Computer. | |
| 5. To Disconnect the share, Right-click on the icon and choose "Disconnect". |
Windows 7
| 1. Right click "Computer" and select "Map Network Drive" |
