Setting up Outlook 2007/2010 for UTS Exchange Server while off-campus.

1. In Windows, click on Start, Control Panel, and Mail.

 

2. The Mail Setup window appears. Click "Show Profiles " to view current Outlook mail profiles, and to create your new Exchange profile.

3. Click "Add" to create your new Outlook Exchange email profile.

 

 

4. Name your new mail profile. For example, " DU Exchange " and click OK.

5. Check the box to "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click "Next".

6. Select "Microsoft Exchange" and click "Next".

7. Enter "exch.du.edu" for the "Microsoft Exchange server" field.  If error occurs, try "weboutlook.du.edu"

8. Leave the checkbox "Use Cached Exchange Mode" checked.

9. Enter your user name in the format firstname.lastname in the "User Name" field. Click "More Settings...".

10. Select the "Connection" tab in the Microsoft Exchange window.

11. Under the "Outlook Anywhere" heading, check the box for "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" and click the "Exchange Proxy Settings" button.

12. Type "weboutlook.du.edu" in the URL field under the "Connection settings" heading.

13. Leave the checkbox for using SSL only selected.

14. Check the box for using HTTP first on fast networks.

15. Under the "Proxy authentication settings" field, change the authentication type to "Basic Authentication". Click "OK" on the two open settings windows.

16. Click "Next" and "Finish" in the "Add new E-mail Account" window.

17. The new profile appears in the Mail window. Choose your desired start-up profile and click OK .

The set up of DU Exchange with Outlook 2007 for an off-campus computer is now complete.

Launch Outlook while connected to the Internet to send/receive Emails.
