Setting up Outlook 2003 for UTS Exchange Server

System Requirements:

  • Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 with Service Pack 1
  • A working Internet connection.

If you are off-campus, you can access your account by going to https://weboutlook.du.edu/

If you already have an account in Outlook, it is recommended that you follow the PST import and export instructions before performing the following steps.

1. In Windows, click on Start, (Settings), Control Panel, and Mail.

2. The Mail window appears. Click "Add " to create a new mail profile.

3. Name your new mail profile. For example, " DU Exchange " and click OK.


4. A new window pops up. Select " Add a new e-mail account " and click Next.


5. Select " Microsoft Exchange Server " as the server type. Click Next .

6. Enter the Exchange Server location: exch.du.edu

7. Leave the checkbox "Use Cached Exchange Mode" checked.

8. Enter the (mailbox) User Name: firstname.lastname (for example: andrew.chan)

9. Click Check Name.
If the setup is correct, the Microsoft Exchange Server field shows: exch.du.edu
and the User Name field automatically becomes your full name with an underline.

10. Click Next and Finish.

11. The new profile appears in the Mail window. Choose your desired start-up profile and click OK .

The set up of DU Exchange with Outlook 2003 is now complete.

Launch Outlook while connected to the DU network to send/receive Emails.
