Daniels College of Business

The Daniels College of Business strongly prefers a PC platform. If you purchase a Mac, you will need to purchase additional software to run Microsoft Windows and Office 2013.

All students will need to purchase the following:

  • Microsoft Office 2013 including Word PowerPoint and Excel
    • Microsoft Office 365 University is 4-year student subscription including 2013 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access for up to 2 devices

Students who purchase a Apple will need to purchase the following in addition to the software listed above:

  • Windows 7 or 8
  • Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion

If you plan on bringing an older Apple to campus, we recommend you verify the computer meets the necessary requirements to run Windows. If you are purchasing a new Apple, we recommend you purchase a Mac with a flash-based hard drive (e.g. Retina Mac BookPro or MacBook Air).

Students pursuing a degree at Daniels College of Business will take classes that use software specific to Windows (e.g. Microsoft Access, Microsoft Visio) and therefore must have the ability to run Windows on their computer. Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion for Apple will enable you to install Windows Operating Systems (Windows 7 or 8) on your Apple so that you may load Office 2013. This solution is fully supported at our UTS Help Center located in Anderson Academic Commons.

GRADUATE STUDENTS, PLEASE CONTACT STUDENT SERVICES (303-871-3416) IN THE DANIELS COLLEGE OF BUSINESS TO TALK TO YOUR PROGRAM ADVISOR ABOUT WHICH CLASSES YOU MAY BE TAKING.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS, PLEASE CONTACT DANIELS UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS (303-871-6910) FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MICROSOFT CERTIFICATION.
