On February 12, 2019 the University of Denver's Graduate School of Professional Psychology and its Center for Oncology Psychology Excellence (COPE) hosted Wes Moore, CEO of Robin Hood and the best-selling author of The Other Wes Moore. In his keynote speech and in his Q&A with GSPP dean Shelly Smith-Acuña, Moore discussed the ways in which his childhood experiences shaped his life's work, the promises and controversies surrounding resilience-building care, and the role professional psychology can play in addressing systemic and individualized challenges of poverty.


 On February 22nd, The Hon. Patrick J. Kennedy spoke at the Redefining Mental Health event hosted by the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at the University of Denver. In part one of his interview with Dean Shelly Smith-Acuña of GSPP, Kennedy explores what his ideal mental health care system would look like and how it would differ from the situation today:
