In this update:
Last Day of Fall Quarter The last day of fall quarter is Tuesday, November 21st. This is also the last day any type of federal aid—including federal student loans—can be certified for the fall term. If you need any adjustments made to your financial aid for fall quarter, contact us as soon as possible! Winter Quarter Disbursement of Aid Your DU tuition bill is due on December 24th. On that date, your financial aid for winter quarter will disburse to your student account and will pay toward your charges—as long as all financial aid requirements are satisfied. In order to receive your financial aid, you must:
Learn more about billing and disbursement >> Winter Quarter Refunds Expecting a refund? If your financial aid is more than the total of your charges, a refund will be generated by the Bursar's Office on Thursday, December 28th. If you have direct deposit, you can expect to see your refund in your bank account on the 29th. Remember: DU Health insurance is only charged in the fall and spring quarters, so if you are expecting a refund for winter quarter, it may be higher than you anticipated. Did you know you can calculate your estimated refund through PioneerWeb? Go to the Student tab and click on the "Student Account by Term" link in the Financial Aid Awards box. Then, subtract your total "Term Credits and Payments" from "Term Charges." If the result is a negative number, you'll receive that amount in a refund. We frequently have students ask, "Can I get my refund sooner?" Unfortunately, no. We are prohibited by federal regulations to disburse financial aid funds any sooner than 10 days before the start of the quarter. Since winter quarter begins on January 3rd, we can't disburse funds any sooner than December 24th. University Closed for Winter Break As a reminder, the University of Denver is closed from Monday, December 25th through Tuesday, January 2nd. Since our office is included in the closure, we highly encourage you to make sure all of your financial aid requirements for winter quarter are satisfied before the break. Doing this will help you avoid late fees, and will ensure you get your refund in a timely manner. Applying for Aid for the 2018-19 Academic Year Because the 2018-19 FAFSA and CSS Profile are already available, you can get a jump start on the financial aid application process for next year by submitting them now. But no rush—the priority deadline for current students to apply for financial aid is not until March 15th. How to Apply: When to Apply: What You'll Need: Some students ask if they can wait until January or later to complete the 2018-19 FAFSA and CSS Profile with 2017 tax information. Even if you wait to apply for aid until after you file your 2017 taxes, you must still use 2016 information on both applications. We will begin sending 2018-19 financial aid award letters to those with completed applications in late May or early June.
