The Christian Updike, MD Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by a generous pledge from Jan C. and Phyllis A. Updike, who made a life-long commitment to improving global health. They have faithfully honored their son Christian for his perseverance as a loving child and young man, who was raised as they served on location in demanding assignments throughout the world.

The Updike Scholarship provides up to $8,000 in annual scholarship support to students enrolled in a graduate degree program and the global health affairs certificate program. The recipient should demonstrate academic achievement, leadership ability and promise as a future global health diplomat.

Scholarship awardees must maintain enrollment in the global health affairs certificate program along with a GPA of at least 3.0 or greater. Recipients are strongly encouraged to broaden their experience and gain further financial support as assistant to GHA Director Sandy Johnson, with further compensation at prevailing hourly rates.
