Scholarships and Fellowships

We offer several opportunities for our students to help fund their studies in Denver and abroad.

The Updike Scholarship

The Christian Updike, MD Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by a generous pledge from Jan C. and Phyllis A. Updike, who made a life-long commitment to improving global health. They have faithfully honored their son Christian for his perseverance as a loving child and young man, who was raised as they served on location in demanding assignments throughout the world.

The Updike Scholarship provides up to $10,000 in annual scholarship support to students enrolled in a graduate degree program and the global health affairs certificate program. The recipient should demonstrate academic achievement, leadership ability and promise as a future global health diplomat.

This scholarship is awarded to support Independent Summer Research and Summer Internships for Global Health Affairs (GHA) students. The scholarship is competitive and will be awarded based on the scholarly merit and feasibility of the proposed project or program. The award amount ranges from $800 - $1,500.

There are two categories of summer scholarships. Each student may submit to only one category. The independent summer research scholarship is designed to support travel and/or research costs for student research on a topic relevant to global health. The summer internship scholarship supports living and travel expenses for students working on a registered internship project that is germane to health. All summer internships must be officially registered with the Office of Career and Professional Services.

The proposal you submit will provide a brief overview of the scope of work proposed, information on relevant partners, and a description of relevance to global health scholarship.

To be eligible for this award you must be registered as a Global Health Affairs Student, have taken two GHA courses and be in good academic standing
