Catie Fowler

Humanitarian Assistance Student Catie Fowler

Catie Fowler is an M.A. candidate in International Human Rights with a certificate in Humanitarian Assistance.  Catie has a particular interest in civil conflict, post-crisis diaspora, and refugee rights.

Before coming to the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, Catie served as an ESL instructor with the US Peace Corps in Rwanda and later as a Community Development Volunteer with COBURWAS, a grassroots NGO run by refugees living in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Western Uganda.  During her undergraduate career, Catie did volunteer work in Southern Uganda and studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa.  During the academic year, she worked with South Sudanese refugees in a pre-nursing training language development program and as a college advisor and as research intern focusing on roots causes of conflict in the DRC.  She is currently serving a practicum with the African Community Center in Denver as a Case Management Intern.

Catie grew up in Evergreen, Colorado.  She holds her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a minor in Religious Studies and a certificate in Leadership.  She feels very fortunate to be able to spend another two years with the Rocky Mountains always in her sight.
