Background

 Gov. Bill Owens has been a Senior Fellow at the University of Denver's Institute for Public Policy Studies since 2007. Gov. Owens served two terms as Governor of Colorado, from 1999-2007, and was re-elected by the largest margin in Colorado history. Prior to his governorship, he served in the Colorado State House, Senate, and as State Treasurer. He is currently a Senior Director at Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm, and serves on the boards of directors of Cloud Peak Energy (NYSE), Federal Signal Corporation (NYSE), and High Point Resources (NYSE). In addition, Gov. Owens has thirty years of experience in and around the Soviet Union and Russia. He received his bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and his M.P.A. from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas.
