Midden Area

The colony midden offers an insight into the consumption patterns of the colony as a whole. Strikers and their families deposited their trash in a pile north of the colony along an arroyo. The large distance between the colony and the midden allowed for a high level of sanitation keeping refuse far from the colony. The presence of the midden on the edge of an arroyo means it is under a constant threat of erosion. The cutting of the soil holding the midden means the context of artifacts will be lost over time.
