Planning Your Visit

Presidential Debate Planning

We are so excited that you'll be coming to visit during the 2012 Presidential Debate. Please check the 2012 Debate website for up-to-date information on how best to access campus during this exciting time.

Please ensure that you have your driver's license or other government issued ID on you while you're on campus.

What to expect on campus

Throughout the weeks leading up to the Debate there will be a great deal of action on campus.  Please be advised that the campus will be closed on Wednesday, October 3rd and that there will be limited access to the north end of campus leading up to the debate.  For additional information please check the 2012 Debate website for up-to-date information.

Transportation considerations

Parking will be nearly impossible on campus during this time.  We highly recommend that you utilize one of the following means of transportation for your visit:

  • Light Rail- please note that our bus and light rail system, RTD, will be providing information on any closures during the debate. If trains are not allowed to stop at the University of Denver station, RTD will be providing shuttles from the nearest stations to get you to campus.
  • Taxi
  • Hotel shuttle
  • Bike

From Monday, October 1st through Sunday, October 7th there will be two Welcome Centers on campus.

Centennial Towers Welcome Center

University Hall Welcome Center
2197 S University Blvd
Denver, CO 80208
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

If you will be arriving on campus via light rail we recommend that you come to the Centennial Towers Welcome Center.  If you will be arriving on campus via taxi we recommend that you come to the University Hall Welcome Center.

We will be offering a variety of visit options throughout this time, including information sessions and campus tours.  However, the campus will be closed and no tours will be offered on Wednesday, October 3rd.  We will also offer a special half day program called Friday@DU which includes an information session, faculty lecture, campus tour and lunch on us in the residence halls on Friday, October 5.  If you would like to learn more about these programs or to register for a visit, please click here.

Please know that things may change and we will do our best to keep information as up-to-date as possible, but please check the 2012 Debate website for additional information!

NACAC visit options

If you will be visiting us as part of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) conference, October 3 - 7, we will be offering information sessions and tours for counselors Monday, Tuesday and Thursday through Sunday. We also invite you to attend the Friday@DU Program on October 5 as well as our Counselor Happy Hour hosted before the Conference Social on Saturday, October 6. Please register online for any of these programs.

Self-guided tours

Not showing up during a scheduled visit, but want to wander through campus? Download the DU iPhone or Android app to access a self guided tour. You can also check out the self guided tour video online!  Again, please keep in mind that the campus will be closed on Wednesday, October 3rd.
