News:
Why Conflict Resolution is Important
A World of Conflict and Turmoil--workplace and domestic violence, school bullying, community tensions, terrorism and war--produces a climate of fear that saps energy and limits human potential.
Conflict Resolution--creative, non-adversarial problem-solving techniques to address interests, concerns and needs of all the disputing parties--enhances security, builds energy, and encourages human growth!
The Conflict Resolution Institute
We emphasize a broad approach to human cooperation; one that cuts across a wide range of spheres in social life: politics, professional work settings, and personal relations, as the key to security and survival in the 21st century.
Integrating Ideas. Our approach draws together knowledge and wisdom about conflict resolution ideas from several disciplines: International Relations, Management, Law, Social Work, and Human Communications, to help students develop a unified understanding.
Building Skills and Experience. All students receive training in a variety of alternative dispute resolution techniques--mediation, negotiation, facilitation, leadership--and participate in an internship, as part of our dedication to help students develop practical effectiveness.
Training Future Leaders. We are dedicated to an educational program designed to prepare workplace professionals for positions as managers, mediators, planners, counselors, and trainers, in government, private industry and non-profit organizations.
