Discoveries Orientation

New Student and Family Programs is committed to the successful transition of new students and families into the University of Denver campus community. We do this by providing inclusive, holistic, student-centered programming aimed at empowering student academic success, personal growth and meaningful connections.

New Student Orientation, or as we call it here, Discoveries Orientation (Discoveries for short), is our introduction to the DU experience. Discoveries consists of both online and in-person content.

Accept your financial aid package and set up your DUPay portal, which has all the information you need for financial planning at DU. Learn more about Cost of Attendance, and download the Estimated First-Year Cost Worksheet to help you plan expenses for your first year.

The courses you take in your first year at the University of Denver will give you tools and experiences to help you clearly define your interests and goals while building a sound foundation of skills and knowledge for advanced study. 

Advising and registration for fall 2023 will take place over the summer.

Responsible Living

We care about the health and safety of our students, and we know college life comes with its own risks. Our wellness education program provides information on responsible drinking, sexual assault and gender violence, and general safety guidelines.

We require all incoming undergraduates to take these courses before registering for classes.

Housing Options

You'll live on campus for your first two years here. Choose from six on-campus residence halls, conveniently located a short walk from your classes. Our residence halls have high-speed internet, student lounges and laundry facilities. Your RA will be there to make sure things are going smoothly as you transition into residence hall life.

We'll help you figure out what to bring and what you should expect on move-in day. You can even get in touch with your roommate before you arrive on campus.

Our Student Research

We provide our undergraduates with $350,000 in research funding annually, and our graduate students receive financial support for their own original research, professional development and conference presentations. Our professors can guide your research and projects, with 90 percent of our full-time faculty having the highest degree in their fields.
