Junior/Senior Outreach
The goal of Junior/Senior Outreach is for DU VIP students to work with juniors and seniors in our partner schools to navigate the complicated college application process. To reach this goal, we organize a variety of activities.
For the Juniors, we:
- help the students identify areas of interest for possible future study.
- facilitate a college search to match the areas of interest with colleges.
- assist students in compiling a resume.
- work with students to write a college essay/personal statement.
When the students are seniors, we:
In 2009-2010, DU VIP students worked with approximately 75 students from our partner schools to complete the application for admission to the University of Denver.
- conduct a "Perfect Application" workshop.
- work one on one with studentsto complete the Common Application and other college applications.
- continue to work with students on resumes and college essays.
- help students complete the CSS Profile (required by DU).
- assist students with completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aide).
- inform students of possible scholarship opportunities.
- conduct an interview workshop.
- provide opportunities for campus tours.
