High School Programs
Summer Link to College
By participating in Summer Link, students learn about the college environment while living on campus for a week. Throughout the week, students attend college classes on various topics such as: science, English, history and math. Students attend workshops conducted by DU staff, members of the community and current DU students.
During Summer Link, students are also introduced to the essentials of applying to college, how to fill out the FAFSA, how to complete scholarship applications, how to write a resume, and the perfect college essay. Other activities include field trips to an observatory, the theater, local museums and many on-campus activities. The week concludes with a banquet where the students reflect on the week and present different class projects to family and friends.
After students finish Summer Link, VIP Coordinators stay engaged with the students during their junior and senior years. Coordinators conduct workshops in order to help the student's research and apply for scholarships and financial aid, prepare for the ACT exam, as well as holding a career assessment workshop.
In addition, the coordinators assist the students in searching for colleges and completing college applications. Additional social activities such as a barbecue, a trip to the arcade, and a trip to a DU basketball game are hosted throughout the academic year.
