University of Denver Commute Club
“DU make a difference?”
The DU Commute Club encourages full-time faculty and staff to use alternative
transportation to commute to work at least one day a week. This includes
using carpools, vanpools, riding the bus and light rail, biking, or walking
to work. Traffic congestion in and around campus and air pollution can
be reduced when fewer people drive to work alone.
All it takes to do your part is a pledge to use alternative transportation
one day a week. Throughout the month, you report
your commute modes and you’re automatically entered into drawings for great prizes. Reporting your commute totals not only will provide you with real-time information about your environmental impacts, miles not driven, and cost-savings, it also helps the Transportation Center and DU track effectiveness of commuter programs, as well as the contributions of Commute Club members toward DU sustainability efforts.
You can sign up for Commute Club using the online
pledge form.
For information regarding alternative transportation, stop by the Transportation
Center in the Evans Parking Building at 2130 S. High Street.
Carpool and Vanpool information
can be obtained by contacting DRCOG Commuter Services at 303-458-POOL or online
at www.drcog.org. This is a great way to find people who live
near you and have similar schedules.
Full-time DU employees are eligible for the RTD Eco Pass. The pass includes
many great benefits, some of which are:
- FREE rides on all RTD services anytime.
- The services include Local, Express, or Regional buses, skyRide to
DIA, Light Rail, and call-n-Ride
- Do not have to pay for gas or parking
- Unlimited rides including weekends and holidays
- No more searching for parking spaces
- No more driving in bad weather
- Guaranteed Ride Home
- All cardholders are guaranteed a FREE ride home in case of an emergency.
All Eco Pass holders are automatically enrolled in the program. It gives
you a FREE taxi ride home in the event of an emergency including illness
and unexpected schedule change. This “safety net” is available
anytime alternative transportation is used.
