About iCarpool

The DU Transportation Center uses iCarpool to manage their alternative transportation commute programs- Drive Less DU (for staff, graduate & law students) and Mountain Pool (for all students). iCarpool can help you find carpool partners, view your gas savings, track your environmental impact, win prizes and more!

Joining iCarpool

To join iCarpool, you need to register for an account https://du.icarpool.com

Creating an Account YouTube video

If you have signed up for Drive Less DU or Mountain Pool during one of our events or at the Transportation Center office, you will have been signed up by one of our staff persons and you will receive follow-up emails with instructions on how to set up your account.

Joining networks

It is very important to join DU's Drive Less DU or Mountain Pool network to find carpool partners and partake in our incentive programs.

Once you're logged in, click on the "Profile" tab and the "My Networks" sub-tab and you'll see a default list of networks that you have been added to based on your work address. To participate in DU's commute programs, you will need to join additional networks.

To join additional networks, click on the "Join Network" button at the top of the page. If you are a student, search for Mountain Pool. If you are a staff person, search for Drive Less DU.
The enrollment passcode for either network is: I want to Drive Less!

Creating a trip in Ride Matcher for carpooling

We've made it easy and fast to create trips to find carpool partners. You do not need to create a trip if you not not planning to carpool for your trip. Here are the steps you'll need to follow:

Step 1: Click on the "Ride Matcher" tab
Step 2: Click on the "Create a trip" sub-tab
Step 3: Follow the steps, how often you take this trip, start and end address, who can see this trip and more.

*Note that a "commute" consists of any travel to work. Trips to the grocery store, mountains, etc. are considered "personal" trips.

Customizing your trip route in Ride Matcher

After creating a carpool trip in Ride Matcher, iCarpool defaults an assumed travel route (sort of like when you click for directions in Google and it makes a decision on the best path). If you use an alternative route, you can change it manually. Heres how:

Step 1: Click on the "Ride Matcher" tab

Step 2: Click on the "Manage your trips" sub-tab

Step 3: Click "View/Change Route"

Step 4: On the map, zoom in or out and right click to add "waypoints" or "stops" along the route you take. The map will make changes to your route based on the path you mark out and will then calculate the corret mileage.

Logging your trips

Once you've completed a trip to the grocery store, mall, work, etc., you can log it on the interactive calendar so that you can get accurate reports on gas money saved, environmental impacts, and more. Here are the steps you'll need to follow:

Step 1: Click on the "Trip Tracker" tab
Step 2: Follow the steps
Step 3: When filling out the trip details, don't forget to select your network (Drive Less DU or Mountain Pool)

Setting up templates
iCarpool has the capability of memorizing trips that you often repeat, so that you don't have to manually log in the same trip over and over again. Here are the steps you'll need to follow:

Step 1: Click on "Trip Log Templates" button
Step 2: Click on the "Add Trip Log Template
Step 3: Fill in the template details

Changing the mileage on the interactive calendar

If you are using the interactive calendar, the 3 step logging, iCarpool defaults an assumed travel route, and therefore an assumed mileage. If you use an alternative route which gives you a different mileage from the default, you can change the mileage manually. Heres how:

Step 1: Click on the "Trip Tracker" tab

Step 2: Follow the steps

Step 3: On the left side below the modes, you will see the mileage and links to update it (see image below). Update the mileage and now click on the calendar cells to log trips

c

*Note that you cannot change your mileage for the 3-step interactive calendar trip you have just made after navigating away from the page. If you would like to make changes, you must click on the trip to delete it, and then start over from Step 1.

Changing the mileage on a trip template

If you are using a Trip Log Template, iCarpool defaults an assumed travel route, and therefore an assumed mileage. If you use an alternative route which gives you a different mileage from the default, you can change the mileage manually. Heres how:

Step 1: Once you are logged in, click the “Trip Tracker” tab

Step 2: Click on the “Trip Log Templates” button at the top of the page

Step 3: Find which template you need to edit, and click on the edit button Description: Edit (looks like a hand writing on the piece of paper)

Step 4: Edit the “Distance (miles)” and “Return Distance (miles)” fields to the correct number of miles.

If you have already logged the trips and they are on the calendar, you cannot edit them, you must delete them and then add them in again. Please note that you can only add trips up to 30 days in the past.
