| The Link is a new portfolio site dedicated to providing women at DU (staff, faculty and students) with a place to network, set up mentoring relationships, and collect information about professional development resources and opportunities. To view more content, please log into the Portfolio system with your DU ID (log in directions). To view the complete content, please apply for membership (see "How to become a member"). We have:
Site in Alpha! The Link is still in the initial construction process and the management welcomes your comments and suggestions. Bear with us – some material has not yet been posted.
Our mission: To give women at DU a place to connect. We will provide a forum for finding a mentoring partner and sharing information and opportunities to further professional development at DU.
How to become a member: Our community can be located by clicking on the "Communities" tab and searching for "Link." On the first page, the tab with the building icon, click on the "Apply for Membership" button in the upper right corner. Please make sure to fill in a reason for applying so that your application will not appear to be spam. Once the site administrator reviews and approves your application, you will receive notification of your approval by e-mail.
If you are having difficulties with the application process, contact the Portfolio Help Desk at 303-871-2084 or portfolio@du.edu
Only members can view the threads in the Networking Forum.
Submitting Documents & Events: Document may be submitted by e-mail to the management for our Reading & Docs section. Submissions should include an explanation of why it suits the purpose of the site. Review the University of Denver intellectual property and fair use policies before submitting.
As the site progresses, some members will be upgraded to "Uploader" memberships, so they can post documents on their own.
Networking Forum: The Link’s forum is a place for women from the DU community to seek mentoring relationships. It exists somewhere between a structured mentoring program and serendipity. We're providing a venue and hoping that people will find that Spark that jump-starts mentoring relationships in everyday life. If you are looking for a mentor for guidance or a young fresh mind to mold or an accountability partner to support your goals and projects, post here! Consider these three types of mentoring relationships:
Read more about the different options in our Reading & Docs section.
Make sure you review our preparation materials (coming soon!) before posting a profile. Knowing what kind of mentoring relationship you want, and what you hope to achieve through it, will greatly increase your chance of building an effective and useful connection.
Privacy: Each item posted to The Link has four possible settings:
For a chart explaining these settings, see page 4 of the "Edit Your Community Portfolio" handbook.
The management of The Link intends to keep the Networking Forum threads set to "Community" access only, so that whatever information you post in these mentoring profiles will not be available to just anyone lurking on the World Wide Web. Go to The Link!
