Working at DU
An Environment That Empowers Greatness
What makes the University of Denver a stimulating place to work? The people, the opportunities and the campus, for starters. Here are some other qualities that combine to make a career at DU both rewarding and exciting:
A beautiful campus with inspiring views of the Rocky Mountains
Set on 125 acres just eight miles from downtown Denver, the University campus is home to an arboretum, several beautiful gardens, a collection of carefully preserved historic landmarks and a host of signature buildings that reflect Colorado's landscape and culture. In recent years, the University has invested $450 million in the campus and its programs, making for a pleasing environment that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
A tuition waiver program for lifelong learning
University of Denver employees and members of their immediate family benefit from a tuition waiver program that makes for-credit classes available at reduced or no cost. Tuition waivers can be used on courses offered by the undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, as well as on courses offered by the Women's College and University College, two DU programs for nontraditional students.
A family-friendly benefits package
Benefits-eligible employees enjoy everything from affordable health insurance to tax-sheltered retirement-savings plans. Plus, vacation and sick time begin accruing your first month on the job. Just as important, our benefits are family friendly, with paid parental leave and flexible spending accounts for childcare expenses. A family-focused Web resource—www.du.edu/childcare—offers everything from information on eldercare to online discussions for parents.
A campus colored by a lively arts scene
Home to the renowned Lamont School of Music and the School of Art and Art History, the University offers an arts scene celebrated for its quality and diversity. Employees can take in shows at the Myhren Art Gallery or buy discounted tickets to concerts, plays and operas at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Plus, a number of public art installations make the campus an outdoor gallery.
Recreation opportunities at the Ritchie Center
Because the University believes in the development of the whole person, DU employees are eligible for discounted memberships to the on-campus fitness and recreation center. They can also participate in adult sports leagues. Employees also enjoy special rates for personal training.
An Eco Pass that makes commuting easy
Every benefits-eligible employee is offered a yearly Eco Pass, which allows use of the city's light-rail and bus systems for free. With a light-rail station and several bus stops at the University's doorstep, the Eco Pass translates into convenience and savings.
