Getting Started for New Employees

To help you prepare for your first day and beyond at DU, here is an overview of what to expect. Please keep in mind each unit on campus may have additional requirements and practices.

Before Arriving on Campus

Speak with your manager to confirm your start date, where to go, what to bring and what to expect for the first day and week
Review the Employee Handbook
Review the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure document (faculty)
Review the benefits guide and enrollment process (benefited employees)
Locate where you are going on your first day (campus map)
Review parking pass options (if applicable)
Gather documentation required to complete the I-9 form

First Day

Bring documentation for I-9 form
Attend Arriving at DU (orientation part 1)
Complete required action items in webCentral
Obtain DU ID card
Purchase parking pass (if applicable)
Obtain a copy of your job description

First Week and Beyond

Attend Thriving at DU (orientation part 2)
Sign-up for a new employee campus tour
Review your job description, responsibilities and expectations with your manager
Review unit, Division and University policies and procedures
Discuss the performance review process with your manager
Enter goals into online performance management form within 30 days (staff only)
Return completed benefit enrollment forms to Human Resources within 30 days of start date
Complete all required job training
