The University provides benefits to adjunct faculty as follows:
• Pioneer ID Card. The following privileges are accessible once employee obtains ID card:
• Blackboard online course support system
• Banner for Faculty (e.g. to print class lists)
The adjunct faculty employee must be active in the SCT Sungard Banner administrative system in order to receive these benefits. With the implementation of the Banner Student System, an adjunct faculty member must be active in Banner HR in order to be assigned a class. The employee’s department must submit the appropriate paperwork to Payroll to activate employment in Banner. Additionally, the department must also submit an I-9 form to Human Resources and complete the network authorization process (www.du.edu/uts/formsuts.html) in order to ensure full access to benefits. Normally an adjunct faculty employee will be automatically made inactive in Banner after six continuous months without pay or when an employee files for unemployment benefits. Some adjunct faculty have a special on-going relationship with an academic unit. In those cases the employee’s record can be flagged to prevent them from being made inactive. In order for that action to be taken the academic unit must so note on the appropriate paperwork.
