Welcome to the University of Denver

We hope that you find your work experience here to be challenging, satisfying, and professionally fulfilling. Every new employee orientates himself or herself to a new environment differently. It is the job of Human Resources to provide every new employee with the necessary tools and information to help meet these different needs.

Orientation
All employees are required to attend BOTH Arriving at DU:New Hires and Thriving at DU:New Employee Orientation. Former appointed (benefited) DU employees who have been away from the University more than one year are required to complete the both sessions, since information on various programs, including benefits plans, will have changed during that period.

Arriving at DU:New Hires (part 1)
Register new employees for the Mandatory "Arriving at DU - New Hires" session scheduled for 8:30am on his/her first day of work. It is critical that, when possible, employees are scheduled to start work on Mondays. Important paperwork required by Federal Law will be completed at these sessions and, if applicable, benefits information will be distributed. Register your new employee by emailing the following information to totalrewards@du.edu:

  • Employee Name:
  • DU ID#:
  • Hire Date:
  • Benefited or Non-Benefited?
  • Department:
  • Job Title:
  • Email Address:

Arriving at DU: New Hires session is held every Monday morning from 8:30-10:00am in Mary Reed Building, DuPont Room (session held on Tuesday if a holiday falls on Monday).

Thriving at DU: New Employee Orientation (part 2)
This session is required for all new benefited/appointed DU employees (non-benefited employees are welcome to attend). This 2-hour orientation session will be held monthly to provide new employees with information they need to know in order to thrive in the DU community. Topics include:

  • DU's values, vision, mission and goals
  • DU's history
  • People, programs and places on campus
  • Key policies
  • The University's Sustainability Initiatives and the DU Sustainability Council (on the web at www.du.edu/green)
  • Speakers from various units

All new staff and faculty needing to attend will be enrolled by HR for the session following their start date. When the new staff or faculty member attends the Arriving at DU session, they are provided a handout with information about the Thriving at DU session and what date they have been enrolled to attend.
