First Day Checklist

Complete Required Paperwork
All employees at the University of Denver must complete the W-4 and I-9 federal employment forms by the end of their first day. To complete the I-9, be sure to have the appropriate combination of identification as outlined on the form. New employees should also complete the Confidentiality Agreementand the Patent Agreement. All employees are also required to complete the emergency contact form found online at webCentral.


Obtain Pioneer ID Card
All e mployees should obtain a Pioneer ID Card on their first day. This is done in the Pioneer ID Office in the lower level of the southern section of Driscoll Center.

Learn DU's webCentral System
All employees should familiarize themselves with the University's online systems, particularly the myWeb component of webCentral. To access webCentral, users will need their DU identification number and initial password. If your ID number and password have not been provided to you by your supervisor, contact Human Resources at 303-871-7420 or extension 1-7420 (see Telephone Access).

Settle into your Workspace
Set up your phone and e-mail; locate your departmental mailbox, fax, and copy machines; determine the appropriate dress code for your department and position; get a copy of your position description; and note the nearest exits in case of emergency.

Register for Orientation
All appointed employees are required to review the online orintation information and attend the in-person New Hire Orientation session:

Online Orientation
A multimedia introduction to employment at DU, our history and culture, as well as the people, programs, and places of the University. Online resources about transportation, finding your way around campus, policies, technology, payroll, safety, and benefits.

A quick and easy set of true/false questions to confirm that you have reviewed the online orientation materials.

New Hire Orientation
An introduction to the culture and values of DU with fellow new employees. Complete additional paperwork and receive in-depth benefits information.
